Fellowship Training

Forensic Pyschiatry - Salary and Benefits

Salary: $65,000 a year

Conference: The fellowship pays fellows’ travel expenses, lodging costs, and tuition to attend the annual meeting of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law Meeting and the forensic psychiatry review course that precedes the meeting.

Discretionary fund: Fellows may request reimbursement of up to $1,000 for expenses such as parking, textbooks, professional society memberships, licenses, journals, etc.

Benefits: The fellowship provides health care coverage plus participation in a retirement pension plan (which replaces Social Security). The 6.5 percent of salary that would go to Social Security is instead placed in an investment of one’s choice (TIAA/CREF or Fidelity). The UC practice corporation contributes 8.5 percent to this fund. After separation from UC, one may request a refund or rollover of the accumulated contributions.

Tax-deferred opportunities: Fellows are eligible to make voluntarily contributions to a 403(b) plan that features several approved carriers and mutual funds.

Sick time: Seven days a year (accrued as hours each month).

Vacation time: Twenty days a year (accrued as hours each month).
